Vistas & Byways is an online literary and visual arts magazine published by an all-volunteer staff comprised of members of OLLI at SF State. It is published twice a year in spring and fall.
We invite you, as a fellow OLLI member, to join our community of new, not-so-new, and established writers and visual artists. In each issue, we display a range of creative work which we hope will reflect our entire OLLI community. In the future, we plan to develop a closer relationship with OLLI writing and painting classes, and with the SF State Creative Writing Department, and possibly offer a class in the production of the magazine.
Vistas & Byways, although often displaying works of genuine literary and artistic merit, is staffed solely by volunteers, and therefore cannot be compared to professional reviews with full-time paid staffs. And since we on the production team are also participants in writing and visual art classes at OLLI, some of our own works will be included in the review.
We have a continuing need for volunteers with interest and skill in a variety of areas (editorial, website construction, publicity, marketing and graphic arts). For further information and to apply to join our staff for the Spring 2017 issue, see our online Volunteer Interest Form.

OLLI at SF State is an active community of peers age 50 and over engaged in learning through classes, interest groups and events at the SF State downtown and main campuses. Stimulating and provocative six-week courses, taught by current and retired SF State professors and other experts, provide personal and social enrichment. OLLI at SF State was founded in 2003. Decisions about the curriculum and programming are made by a nine-member volunteer council, elected by fellow OLLI at SF State members, in partnership with the Program Director. Funding is provided in part by the Bernard Osher Foundation.
